The 4 Types of Entrepreneurs (Which One Are You?)

Entrepreneurship is a big word that means a lot of different thing to different people.  But no matter what it means to you, it brings us all together.  It speaks to an optimism for the future, a resilience against challenges, an open mind that doesn’t accept limitations, and a spark of creativity that lives on.

That being said, it is very worthwhile to do some reflection and identify what type of entrepreneur you are, so you can leverage your unique strengths and mitigate your potential weak spots.  We’ve broken down entrepreneurship into 4 types – have a look and see where you find yourself!

The Brick and Mortar Entrepreneur.

This your traditional business – a product or service that serves customers in the real world through some form of retail establishment.  These entrepreneurs are fanatical about good customer experiences and managing overhead costs.  They focus a lot of their time and effort on branding, to win the mind space of their potential customers.  They thrive on the hustle and bustle of the work day and are always looking for ways to improve their core offering.

The Growth Hacker.

The growth hacker is a born-and-bred internet entrepreneur who leverages the power of social media to target a niche and sell products and services specifically to those people.  Typically, these entrepreneurs don’t want to handle any of the operations, so they outsource all of that to other freelancers or organizations, instead focusing their attention on the marketing and customer support.  These businesses are incredibly scalable when done well and these entrepreneurs thrive on improved conversion rates, untapped potential, and persuasive copywriting.

The Lifestyle Entrepreneur.

The lifestyle entrepreneur is in the game because they love what they do.  It’s really not about becoming rich for this entrepreneur, it’s about the ability to do something that they’re passionate about for a living.  These people aren’t trying to build the next billion dollar company, they don’t want to manage a large team, they just want to make enough to be comfortable and live a life where every day is a joy.  The business is just a vehicle for them to channel their energy through.

The Influencer.

The influencer is a creative who builds an audience through their creativity.  By sharing their thoughts, ideas, and creative output with the world, the influencer attracts like-minded people and builds a fan base that can be monetized in various ways.  At the core of this entrepreneur is an eye for what’s interesting to people, talent that stands out from the rest, and an authenticity of personality that makes others want to pay attention.  The influencer builds a personal brand that is directly tied to them, and leverages that to build a business.

Those are the four types of modern entrepreneurs.  There is no right and wrong here, each one comes with its own pros and cons, and each one is suited for different people.
